Yes I know what you mean...
Its a shame... personally I think it is a very good phone... perhaps in this case you have just been unlucky?
Depending on where you bought the phone from - it could be worth checking whether you can exchange it with them. Might be easier/faster...!

You can get it repaired under warranty at the Carphone warehouse - I believe that means it is free.
Also I believe (possibly) you can get it repaired under your network provider also under warranty.
Both carphone warehouse and your network will give you a back up phone whilst its under repair. My network gave me a little smart phone when I last needed it - not sure if carphone warehouse can do that.
Either way - both are tracked and give you a back up phone and i believe are free... better than having to pay to send it to Sony....

I had the exact same problem with my XA2 after only having it for five weeks. I plugged it in over night to charge and awoke the next morning to find it dead. No charging light, no life, nothing. Also as my alarm was on my phone I was very late for work and missed half my shift. After work I immediately took it back to the EE shop where they sent it off for repair giving an Xperia Z3 Compact as a loan phone (my OLD phone I had between 2014-2016). When I got it back 12 days later the repair report said there was a problem with the charging and it had been repaired. Three weeks later all still seems to be OK but keeping fingers crossed. I am no longer using the UCH-12 fast charger I bought from eBay as even though it looks like a Sony original I have suspicions it may have fried my phone!

If you are worried about your data, use newflasher to reflash the firmware inside download mode(but remove the userdata file first)..
If you don't care about your data, use emma flash tool to flash the device...

This literally just happened to me. Got the xa2 on may 3rd have had one replacement as it went of for a different softwaer issue and got broken in the procedure (screen got cracked). They gave me a brand new one 3 days ago. got it Thursday afternoon (this after a month phoneless while they decided whether to repair or replace the handset they broke) within 12 hours it reproduced the same software glitches as the first phone.
Today was happily scrolling through Facebook and it froze, after 15 minutes it was just doing nothing so did the reset advice on here provided by sony. Now my phone is off, no led charging light or anything. Tried everything the help section said nothing. Plugged into the computer and ran the companion software....doesn't pick up the device, even following the wont recognise it thread it won't asknowledge the phone!
I'm only relieved that after the same software glitch i contacted 02 who the contract is with since as the supplier of the phone they are the one CAB told me to deal with they are sending me out an entierly different model and brand of phone which arrives tomorrow.
I am sorry I ever went with the XA2 , worst most unreliable, glitchy piece of junk I've ever come across!!!

okay, i’ve just stumbled upon this and have my own situation. i’ve had mine for 6 months, it’s a promising phone that falls short with very unreliable performance. it’s a strong 5/10 in my book, which is still pretty good for its current price. the UI tends to be the largest issue for this phone sadly, quite glitchy and unstable.
ON TO MY PROBLEM
i recently had the phone just turn off, and after reviving the phone and experimenting i’ve come to a conclusion. it’s a design flaw and your XA2 may be completely broken. the back as we all know is simply a thin plastic back, and directly under that is a weak shield covering the motherboard. to the right and under the finger sensor are what i would consider the most important parts, and due to the rounded back it leaves some room for the back plate to be bent inward, therefore pushing the ‘actual’ shield of the motherboard into the components. and when you push metal onto something sensitive like a motherboard covered in exposed components... well, that’s it. i don’t know if everyone has this same story, but if you dropped it, if you may have applied pressure at some point, or sat on your phone that could mean you’ve damaged the hardware. it’s totally possible that there are other reasons for failure, including an unauthorised charger. but in my case this is what seemed to kill the phones power everytime i tested it. any pressure put on the mentioned area could cause major malfunctions and ultimately caused my phone to die completely. anyway, i doubt this helped in any meaningful way. i do however think this might shed some more light on some more possible reasons that the XA2 has failed on a number of people.
(using my other phone to write, apologies for lack of Caps)
