How do I set my phone, to allow apps from unknown sources  please?

Hi @Karen-0-, welcome to our forum!

In Android 8 and Android 9 this has been reworked a bit and now each application has their own restriction for this.

If you go to Settings > Apps & notifications > (Advanced) > Special app access > Install unknown apps > tap the application you are going to use to install the apk-file > Allow.

Keep in mind that there is a risk involved when installing applications that are not downloaded/installed from the Google Play store.
