XAV-AX1000 into Toyota Avensis 2007 T25

(Posted in here, Portable Audio, as there doesn't seem to be a Car Audio section)

The factory-fit Bluetooth audio & nav systems in my Toyota Avensis 2007 T25 H/B (UK T4 spec) is crashing my iPhone on connecting since the last iOS update. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to upgrade the car's system firmware.

Is the XAV-AX1000 (Apple Carplay) a DIY fit into my  vehicle and do I need any additional parts to mate the wiring systems and to use the steering wheel controls?

Is there an app or web function that matches Pioneer's "match my car" functionality?

Thanks, mathepac

Hi Mathepac058,

To be honest, I don't think there's anything wrong with your unit. But just in case, you can try resetting it to factory settings using the steps in the manual (page 14) :https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/res/manuals/4740/2c2d31f873ecbce84719e6402055b7d2/4740885...

Thanks for taking time to post your reply Win88, but I suspect you might have mis-read my post.

Hi mathepac058,

I was trying to eliminate the chance for a software glitch with the system, hence the advice of a factory reset. (The system's software is not upgradeable)

However, if you think this is related to the wiring, I'd really recommend checking with your nearest car specialist.

My question: "Is the XAV-AX1000 (Apple Carplay) a DIY fit into my  vehicle and do I need any additional parts to mate the wiring systems and to use the steering wheel controls?"

To be clear,  I haven't purchased a Sony XAV-AX1000 (Apple Carplay). Before I do I'd like to try to get answers to the questions above.
