Hi
First post so please bear with me.
I have just purchased the XL301 and had it installed over the weekend. I have SKY+ (regular not HD) and have this fed into the Vaio, but cant get a signal in the TV set up screen. I have it coming of the SKY+ via scart then split into component. Am I doing something wrong?
Additionally I have the PS2 connected but again don't know where to go in the Vaio to view this?
Please help!
Thanks
Hi sibath and welcome to Club Vaio.
Did you get an "IR Blaster" with your Vaio. This is an infra red receiver that plugs into the Vaio and the Sky Box to allow you to change channels on Sky through the Vaio and its remote control.
You would normally connect Sky by a S-Video cable plus audio cable.
Have you set up Sky in Media Centre TV setup?
Not sure why you would want to connect a PS2 through the XL301 as direct connection to the display will be quicker, simpler and eliminate any annoying latency delays.
Thanks Blencogo. Good point about the PS2, no need to run it through the Vaio.
Can you explain how you set up the Sky through the Vaio?? I have tried on the TV set up in the Media Center but it just says no signal.
Cheers
Hey, I have a XL301 and run normal sky through it.
It is connected by an s-ideo cable and also a dual phono audio cable. I use a direct link IR blaster as the ones that come with the center are rubbish at best, get one at http://www.keshelectrics.co.uk/en-gb/dept_1.html
If you fancy it you can actually get sky running internally in MCe check out http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319927
Advanced tho.
To be honest tho. Why are you even running Sky+ through the XL301, you get slightly worse picture quality, latency in changing channels and the only reason i do it - to record channels - you can do already with sky+. You'll also loose the ability to record one channel and watch another.
Like above, don't bother running the PS2 through the media center usless you specifically need to record the video, which I've done once i think.
If you have any more questions about the XL301 I'll have a go at answering them, been messing around with software for about a month now and the systems is almost doning what i need.
Google DVD43. You'll be able to watch your DVDs at 1080p
