Wireless network card problems

Hey i am having trouble connecting to network with my vgn-fw31m am running windows 7 and the vaio smart network won't let me turn on my wlan card, am doing virus scan at the mo just in case. The card is identified by the laptop and says it enabled but won't connect to a network.Haven't tried Ethernet cable as it would involve getting into attic with my laptop.

Wasn't sure were to post this so sorry if is in wrong place.
All help much appreciated.

I ve also noticed that the smart network cannot find a network adapter when go to look at the profiles. Since last night i ve uninstalled and re-installed the drivers, smart network, intel wireless pro and the wireless card itself and still no joy :slight_frown:

Did it work in Vista?
Did you do an Upgrade using the Sony Upgrade Kit discs?
If not did you do an upgrade or a clean install?

Excuse the obvious question but have you have turned on the sliding switch on the front of your Vaio? No 10 on this diagram:
