Volume Buttons on VGN-FE31M

I bought a Sony Vaio VGN-FE31M 5 days ago and the volume buttons never worked properly. When I push these buttons it only shows the volume level, but doesn't increase or decrease it.
Can anyone help me? Should I exchange the laptop?

Hi caramela and welcome to the forum.

You should find the following utilities either on you C driver or the recovery disks, if not download them from Vaio-Link (make sure that you select the correct operating system)

Install the following – in this order, followed by a re-boot.

1 Sony Utilities.
2 Sony Shared Library.
3 Vaio Event Service.

Hopfully this should restore the button functions.

It didn't work... What should I do next? The Fn keys also don't work. 😞
