What model do you have frosty?
Have you installed all the Sony Utilities for Vista?
thanks for replying. i have a VGN-FS115MR (2 years old)
i've had a look on the downloads section of this website but nothing jumped out at me.
if you know of any such thing could you point me in the right direction.
thanks again.

Hi frosty.
You probably need to install everything from the Vista Update page for the VGN-FS115MR here: -
VISTA Updates for VGN-FS115MR
For the Volume and other Fn Keys install IN THIS ORDER: -
1. Sony Utils DLL 7.0.00.11210
2. Sony Shared Library 3.0.00.10180
3. VAIO Event Service 3.0.00.13110
4. Setting Utility Series 2.0.00.11270
You may have to install them more than once to get it to work.
For the Touchpad install: -
Pointing Device Driver 7.0.501.5
But as I said, consider installing the lot!!
