VGX-XL100 Copy Protection signal on DVDs

Just got around to trying to understand why my VAIO VGX cant play DVDs. I keep getting the message ''Copy Protection Signal detected''. From what I've read this seems to be a common compplaint, but I still cant find the answer. Can anybody help??? Go easy with me I'm no techy...

I remember someone saying this was due to HDMI and it worked via composite

Are these DVDs you have recorded yourself?

I believe some analogue TV stations and Sky Boxes include a form of Macrovision signal which prevents the making of a permanent digital copy of the analogue program/film.

As with most DRM measures there are ways around the problem but we cannot discuss them here. Try Google.
