Hallo there again! It's about time to extend my vgn-sz1xp\c vaio more than 1024 MB. So before i run to shops i have to ask some questions first.
-> First of all how many slots for Ram do this vaio have? Shall i get a new 1024 Ram to place in another slot or do i have only one slot so i have to subtitude my current 1024 Ram with one 2048?
-> I just get in a shop and take a simple Ram of the size i decide, or do i have to buy special model to be compatible with my vaio?
-> Are there any restrictions when it comes to the HZ thing? I mean 533 MHZ and the other are both compatible?
Any information will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi patonios.
Have a look at this link - it should give you all the information you require: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/tutorials/memory/memory.asp?m=2160&site=voe_en_GB_cons
You have two slots and should have 1024MB already installed in one of the slots. You need another 1024MB DDR2 533MHz PC2-4200 module.
Look here at Crucial.com

Many of us here use Crucial - I would avoid some other cheap makes of memory which do not work properly in Vaios. I think Corsair is one that will not register the extra memory properly.
Blencogo thanks a lot for your immediate and accurate response. I ll procede to my memory upgrade with another 1024MB DDR2 533MHz PC2-4200 module. As it comes to the provider (Crucial.com) i can't see in the shipment countries Greece (that is where i live) i ll search further for that and if i cant buy it from there i ll search in local shops.
Thanks again.
