My sound card seems to have disappeared although it was installed when purchased in Dec 07. When using Skype I get message "problem with recording device - check audio settings - make sure the correct headphones are selected". When I make a call I hear the ringing tone but cannot hear person I am calling, also they do not hear me even though they answer the call. Can anyone please help?

Welcome to the club,
try a system restore to a time before the problem occured. Also Skype settings are arkward at first but try reinstalling if the options alternatives are not helping.
