I´m having a problem with my VGN-FS115Z optical drive. It can read CD and DVD but canot write DVD. I use DVD-RW wish is recomended but it dont work. I have flashed a firmware to D56A.PFS1 but neider dont work. If anyone can help me i apriciate.
Thanks.
Try another good quality DVD-R or alternatively make your DVD RW bootable using a trial version of Acronis True imaging software on another computer.here . Don't use Norton Ghost as it is incompatable with the Sony Recovery process. Use can use Nero Roxio but Acronis is the best. Follow the instructions to make a bootable disk on another computer then it should be seen on your errant Vaio. Try a system restore to when it was working is another option.
Hi chsa,
Unfortunately, you probably have a Sony DW-D56A drive in your Vaio.
This is probably the worst drive of all time so I am not very hopeful.
Have you installed Firmware update for Sony DW-D56A PFS3-2 from here: -

If you want to get depressed, read this thread about the DW-D56A: -

There was a fix that worked in this thread: -
