VGC-LA2 Wireless keyboard & mouse will not work

Hi,

I've had my beautiful VAIO (all-in-one) PC for nearly 2 weeks, but the wireless keyboard & mouse have suddenly stopped working. I have tried to re-connect by pressing the buttons, but it still will not work.

Anyone else had this problem / got any ideas ?

Hi James and welcome to Club Vaio.

It sounds like a software update has caused the problem. Three things for you to try: -

1. Try plugging in a USB mouse - this has been known to cure the problem temporarily.
2. Use System Restore to take your system back to the time when it was working OK.
3. Contact Sony for a solution (Mon - Fri) HERE

Many thanks for post Blencogo. I've read through the other thread that you posted and it does seem to be a common problem.

I read in my documentation that the keyboard has to be between 30cm & 1m away from the PC to ensure that they connect.

Over the past 5 days, I've moved my keyboard & mouse back to the edge of my desk (approx 50cm away), and it seems to be booting up ok. Once its booted up, the distance doesn't seem to be an issue.

It seems to be too simple to be the solution....but it seems to be working at the minute...fingers crossed !

Well, my solution was too simple after all. Yesterday I had to re-boot 3 times before the mouse & keyboard would work. I've tried the suggestions from the thread that Blencogo posted plugging in another mouse), but it makes no difference. In fact, the microsoft wireless mouse that I plugged in worked when I booted up earlier tonight, but my new Sony wireless mouse & keyboard were lifeless !

So, I'm posting this message from my 5 year old VAIO (connected via many wires), and my new all-in-one wireless/wifi/bluetooth/you-name-it-&-its-got-it PC is about to be recovered to its factory state, and will be returned to the shop for a replacement on Thursday.

However, I am slightly disappointed with the Sony e-support site..... I posted a case with them yesterday morning, and they haven't even looked at it yet. Come on Sony, you need to do better than that !
