Hi, I have a VGC-LA38C/P (similar to VGC-LA38G or LA1?)
I bought the vaio in China on holiday, and I returned to UK - bought it back in 2006.
I assume from reading things on the internet that the graphics has gone, broken, busted, faulty.
It worked for a 'half' before, then gradually got worse, with blue vertical lines (sets of 4 thin lines) on boot and in windows, and the picture is hardly visible. White lines also during boot...
I know it's not the lcd, because sometimes (by magic) everything works great for a few minutes, although it could be a loose cable?
It's a great PC, and really sorry to have it go down like this. Still worked great, and a beautiful peace of machinery.
I assume I cannot replace the graphics card, warranty is obviously out of the question; is there a way to replace the parts??? Entire Motherboard??? If so, how much would it be?
I can't find a support phone number or email - as it directs me to UK purchased devices ONLY. And, I can't really call China, because I don't speak Chinese all that well.
Please help, any comments appreciated.

As you are out of warranty anyway, I would speak direct to one of Sony's Service Partners for out-of-warranty repairs in the UK. Choose from here: -
