VAIO VGN-SZ670AN BIOS WONT DETECT HD

Hello Guys,

This is my first post here, congratz for this amazing Forum :wink:

I´ve been looking for the solution of this problem for weeks, and cant find anything that really helps. Tried to search all over this forum and found nothing too 😞

My notebook has stopped detecting the Hard Disk. On Setup Utility, Advanced Tab says:

"Hard Disk Drive: None"
(is not possible to change this setting)

- Tried to use another HD (that was working on my other laptop) and the problem is the same;
- Used this same HD on my other Laptop, and is working ok;
- Reset CMOS (hard reset) - problem still occurs;
- The HD led wont blink or turn on.

BIOS Version is R0081s5.

Can anyone help me, pls ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Caio,

welcome to Club VAIO.. :slight_smile:

If you've reset the BIOS to default setting and your HDD is still not detected then I guess that there is another hardware problem, possibly the ribbon cable, causing the HDD not to be detected..:smileyconfused:

I suggest you contact Sony Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support

Or

See if a local repairer in your area can help..

Hi caiomarcelo,

I've just realised that your Vaio model isn't a European model as it appears the SZ670AN is a Brazilian Vaio, so I'm not sure if the European Vaio support will be able to help.?

E-support Brazil can be located by using the following link: E-support

Did you try resetting your BIOS back to default setting.?

Once the BIOS to loaded

Press F9 Setup Defaults

Ensure yes is highlighted and press enter to confirm

then press F10 Save and Exit, ensure yes is highlighted and press enter to confirm.
