VAIO VGN-FZ11S camera

can anybody help me...

my camera, VGP-VCC4, has stopped working - failing to initialise due to being used by other application.

I have checked all other aplications, and nothing is making this camera work. has anybody got a solution or advice to get my laptop back in fully-functioning order.

many thanks

sam

Hi Sam and welcome to Club Vaio.

The suspicion is that a security update to Vista has caused this problem but to be honest, there has always been a problem with webcams and Vista since day one.

The only short term solution I can think of until Microsoft and Sony work out a fix is to disable Vista’s UAC. I should point out that UAC is a new security feature incorporated into Vista and disabling this may make your Vaio slightly less secure. This has to be your choice but it will probably fix the camera!

To disable User Account Control: -

Press the Windows key on the left of your keyboard and press R

Type in the command
MSCONFIG
and press OK -> Continue.

This will open the System Configuration Utility.

Open the Tab “Tools” and scroll down to ‘Disable UAC’ and click Launch. At the black screen, click OK and restart your Vaio.

:wink:

thanks Blencogo, ur diagnosis was indeed correct :slight_smile:
I guess i will have to wait until Sony sort out a fix for the problem, until then i will disable the UAC as and when i need the camera capability.
thanks again, i was getting frustrated with this machine, lol
