Hello everyone!
I have a VAIO N21E/W with Vista Home Premium pre installed, and I seem to have done something to it that it does not like, so I thought I will reset it to its original settings, by using the VAIO Recovery Utility.
When I click on this, it come sup with the following error:
VRU.exe - Unable To Locate Component
This Application has failed to start because Kcap.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
And I can't seem to find the file on Sony's website to re-install the app, any ideas or help would be gratefully appreciated, as I can't seem to get anything to work properly!
All I want to do is to start again with the laptop as I must have installed or deleted by mistake something that is vital, I noticed that no disc's came with the laptop from either Sony or Microsoft, so i can't see how to rectify this issue!
Kind regards
Richard
Hi Richard,
If you just want to return your Vaio to its factory settings, try plugging into the AC Mains and turn on your Vaio. When you see the first VAIO screen try tapping F10 repeatedly. This should start the recovery wizard. Whatever you do, do not interrupt the recovery process even if it appears to stop.
Back up all your data first!!! And Make a set of Recovery Discs as the first task after recovery!!!!
