TV Tuner not connected

Hi.
Very recently, when trying to watch TV via the built-in TV Tuner on my Vaio VGC-V3S, I get the message that the TV Tuner is not connected, suggesting that I connect it. I have no idea why it has suddenly stopped being connected, nor how to connect it. Any help out there, please?

Hi pablo2340 and welcome.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the TV Tuner has broken.

Have a look in Device Manager to see if any error is registered: -

Start -> Right-Click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager

Expand the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" branch.
Look for "Sony MPEG RealTime encoder board" and look for any warnings against the device.
Double-click on it to see the status message.

Thanks, Blencogo.
I have done as you say, and the Device manager informs me that the "Sony MPEG RealTime encoder board" is working properly. The other information it gives me is as follows:

Location: PCI Slot 1 (PCI bus 2, device 9, function 0)
No conflicts with other devices,
and of course lots of other
information under "Details", too numerous to give it all.

Does this still mean that the nTV Tuner may be broken. I CAN play two recordings from the TV that I made a week or two ago...
I do hope you can come up with something...

I have managed to restore the TV Tuner function, by restoring my computer to a previous date. I had forgotten that I had installed a program (Powerpack Utilities) in an attempt to get two Homeplugs working with my computer (without success, I may say), and that would appear to be what caused the problem.
Thanks, Blencogo, anyway.
