I have heard a lot about protecting the battery in laptops. Most people mention not to charge it frequently, but to completely empty the battery and then charge it fully, instead of charging frequently at small intervals. Then some other people say that it is best to keep the battery full all the time.
I am a little confused, and would like to preserve the battery time in the future, as my father's Vaio's battery is suppose to last 6 hours, more than my newer SZ5 and gets empty very fast.
On my SZ5MN/B it says 5 hours, but the maximum I got was 3 1/2 hours. Is this normal?
I know it depends on CPU usage and all, but what else do I need to do, to ensure maximum battery life.
Many thanks for any replies.
Hi Joachim_Joe and welcome to Club Vaio.
Have a look through this link: -

As you say, battery duration depends on what you are using (Wireless/DVD Drive/Screen Brightness/Hard Disc etc. etc.) but 3.5 hours sounds fine to me - Sony say up to 04:30 / VAIO Optimized (Brightness Level 5) for your model.
Hello Blencogo,
Many thanks for the friendly welcome. 🙂
... and your link. The site explains the answer to my question very well.
