Hi All,
I have a Vaio SZ4WXN/C. Everytime i lock the laptop or when the screensaver automtically comes i do the normal, by unlocking it but my wifi connection automaically drops and does not connect unless i search for it and connect.
This is getting very annoying when im downloading things or have conversations running and leave the laptop or i have to be away from it. I have searched the intel site for new and updated drivers, also checked all the power saving functions on the laptop aswell as the wifi card to no avail.... Any sugesstions?
Many Thanks.
You can download the Microsoft fix from here . This is a common problem and i can't wait until sp1 so it can all get sorted out.
Hi there,
Thanks for the response.
I have installed the patch, rebooted connected to my wifie, locked windows then unloced and the same thing has happened again. The wifi has dropped, and i need to reslect my ssid to connect again. 😞
Assign the attached file to a shortcut key and run it whenever the connection is dropped.
It renews your IP which is the problem you are encountering.
Hi again, and thanks for your post.
The problem is not with losing the gateway or renewing the ip address. When i log back on to the computer from it being locked the SSID is completly dropped ie not connected to any access point.
Renewing the ip is not going to help if it has not received an ip in the first place as it has lost its link to the access point.
Do you have the screens with a cross in the bottom corner or just two screens without the globe?
As soon as i log back onto the pc, the SSID is dropped with just the red x through the network info screen on the task tray. I have to click on the x then select connect to network... choose my SSID then connect to my access point, i am then asigned an ip address and the screens show the globe. Very frustrating
Have you tried simply flicking of the wireless at the switch and turning it back on?
Hi, yes i have tried that, however this still has the same outcome as manually re-connecting to the access point.
The issue still remians, that when the computer is unlocked the connection to the AP has completly gone, meaning anything that was running or downloading is interupted as there is no internet connection. Looks likes a vista process is being dropped, back to the MS support site me thinks.
