Speakers go mute on start up!

Have installed Vista on my Vaio VGN-FE21H

As soon as I install the Event Service, the speakers are automatically muted and are always muted on start up. I've installed the Sigmatel Audio Driver but it makes no difference.

Any ideas how to stop my laptop speakers going to mute on start up?

Hi 7hil,

Did you install the UAA High Definition Audio Class driver prior to loading the Sigmatel Audio Driver?

You will find this driver in the Audio driver folder of the pre-installed Drivers (downloadable from Vaio-Link).

Do you know where I can get a vista version of the UAA High Definition Audio Class driver?

I had XP preinstalled so only have the XP version.

Hi 7hil,

Here is a link to the Sigmatel Vista driver .

The UAA HD audio driver is not required with Vista.

EDIT: Assuming that you have the correct drivers installed then make sure that the SigmaTel playback device is selected as opposed to USB Speakers.

Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.

That's the driver I've been using. Still giving me mute speakers on start up I'm afraid.
