Sony Vaio vpceb3f4e not powering on green light comes on then off

Hi all I'm new signed up to see if I can get any help.
I have a Sony Vaio vpceb3f4e or pcg-71311m.
It got chucked on the floor and the screen is now smashed, but it turned on and worked perfectly, since the incident the laptop will now not turn on?
I press the switch and the green power light comes on for about 3 seconds then the fan comes on then the power goes off.
Any ideas?

Hi Ben,

I doubt that this is something that we will be able to resolve on this forum. Dropping the notebook would seem to have caused damage to the motherboard.

If you have household insurance that may cover this then speak to your insurer, otherwise contact one of Sony’s repair partners for a quotation – sit down when you do this :slight_frown:

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I did think the motherboard may have gone :slight_frown: 2nd hand you know roughly how much I could get on for?

And are they easy to replace.

Would I be worth just selling parts of it as it needs a new screen aswell lol.

As the screen has had it and the motherboard is suspect there is little to sell in the way of parts.

You may get some interest in the plastic parts, HDD and optical drive etc.

A new motherboard for £100 - I very much doubt that! Closer to £400.

I'm afraid you have a basket case.:smileysad:

Not new, secondhand, fully tested and working!

A bargain at that price, but add new screen and broken plastic elements plus labour and you are approaching the cost of a new notebook :slight_frown:

Think I may sell parts ect of it then 😕

£150 for motherboard and screen, I would fit myself aswell.

Not really worth it.
