My Sony Vaio TX (which was an excellent machine btw!) has completely stopped powering up, Ive tried removing the battery, the ram etc.. nothing seems to work.. to make matters worse ive lost my warranty! What can I do? And how much will it cost? Im just preying its not the old line "we need to replace your motherboard" - only been using the damn thing about 10 months when it died!!!
Hi gazy
Welcome to Club Vaio..
Unplug the power supply and remove the cable and all connected devices from your Vaio, then remove battery.
Once done press and hold down power button for a full 30 seconds, then replace the battery and then plug in power cord. Once completed turn the laptop on..
Hi, I so wanted this to work!!! Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately the vaio shows no sign at all of any life even after doing this a few times.
😞 Thoughts? Is there anywhere in London that can fix it?
Gaz.
Hello,
I have a vaio VGN-C1S/H and the same problem just happened to me. The computer simply does not not respond either with battery or power supply. I have tried the suggestion, but unfortunately it does not work for me also...
I would like to ask if you have any idea of what it could be the problem. Because I havent done backup copy for some important files i have stored in the vaio, and would like to have some idea if i will be able to get them back...
Thanks!
There is always the option of removing the HDs and putting them in an external case to get the data, then put them back.
OK folks, I sent this away for repair - they charged me £70 and I got it back. BUT its NOT FIXED.. the power light now comes one but the machine will still not boot!!! The company have advised me it needs an entirely new motherboard!!!!! They said this will cost £650, which of course I am definately NOT willing to pay!! I think I will just buy another VAIO off ebay 😞 it wont be as good as this one but Sony are lucky that Im even sticking with them as they have severely BURNED me with their shoddy workmanship 😞
