I own a Sony Vaio VGN-Z51WG/B with a NVidia 9300M GS graphics card.
I cannot play the new Civilization V game and have searched the internet for a solution to my problem. I have found out that all my problems should go away if I install the new driver from NVidia.
I have therefore downloaded this driver, but it refuses to install as "no compatible graphics hardware" is found. Reading the notes to the newly released driver, reveals that it is compatible with all notebooks, except from Sony VAIO notebooks, that "are not supported at this time (please contact Sony for driver support)."
So I logged in on my Sony support site, wanting to update my driver from there. But the latest driver from Sony was over 1 year old!
Therefore I called Sony Support Denmark, asking them for help. But they refuse to help me, as the Vaio VGN-Z51WG/B is not to be used for games, but only for multimedia. And as it is not to be used for games, Sony does not update the driver.
By the way, the Sony Vaio VGN-Z51WG/B meets all required specifications for playing the game fully.
Does anybody know what I can do to use my pretty expensive laptop for playing this game??

What could go wrong installing this driver at my own risk? And how likely is it that something goes wrong?
Hi,
the drivers from laptop2go are not officially certified by Sony, this doesn't mean something will go wrong but installing these drivers has to be your choice as they have not been tried and tested by Sony.
You may also loose some of the functions ie special keys, etc. on your Z series.
