SATA DRIVES

Please can anyone help. I have a vaio FZ21Z and would like to install a faster hard drive, the one i have in mind is the Seagate ST9200420AS. My question is would a Sata ii drive damage a Sata i motherboard. I say Sata i motherboard because i am not sure what Sata controller is onboard.

Hi Brianct.

You should be OK because SATA is designed to be backward and forward compatible with future/past revisions of the SATA standard.

Some individual early SATA-150 (pre-2003) chipsets may not support SATA-300 but these are rare and your FZ21 will certainly be OK with a 3Gbit/s disc.

Where do i find this sata drivers So I cab add the when I install XP-pro on my VGN-FZ21Z???
I really need xp instead of vista.
