Reinstall

If i was to reinstall vista from a proper disk, not hte pointless crap filled recovery things, would it work fine or am i likely to run into any problems?

Did want XP but fighting for the correct drivers etc prooved a bit to much so gave in.

I think the question is too wide for any sensible answer. It depends entirely on your experise with computers!

You should be able to install a Retail Version of Vista if you know what you are doing but this seems to me to be a total waste of money. You will have to purchase a version with an unused Product Key - you cannot use someone elses discs with the Sony OEM Product key. This used to work in XP but it has been stopped in Vista. I don't undersdtand why you can't uninstall what you don't want from the Sony install.

Your model is identical in specs to the VGN-FE31Z which was released with XP as the OS. Quite a few users have installed XP using the drivers and utilities from the FE31Z but again, some computer knowledge is an advantage.
