Doesn't seem like so long ago that I actually managed to get DVgate Plus working again.
It keeps giving me the error message when I start it up:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Sony\dvgate plus\DVPlus.exe
abnormal program termination
I don't want to reinstall for 2 reasons:
1) In the past when DVgate wouldn't start (for a different reason - said I didn't have an authentic VAIO for some reason...) and I reinstalled it (possibly using Utils.exe, I can't remember), it ruined my editing that I had done in Adobe Premiere.
2) The VAIO Recovery Tool/System Restore seems to make things worse elsewhere, mainly with the VAIO Launcher - the icons sometimes disappear and it all messes up along with VAIO Zone. I think this is because System Restore sometimes renames folders and/or creates duplicate folders causing other things not to function properly. It works and does its job, like the VAIO Recovery Tool does, just sometimes not perfectly without annoying side-effects. I do use them both sometimes (although I try to avoid it), however I don't know when the issue started as I hadn't tried it for a long time and only noticed it when I tried to use it today. Therefore I don't really want to make the computer rename folders by recovering and then reverting if it doesn't work.
I was just wondering if there were any other suggestions - VAIO Support will just tell me either to reinstall or completely recover the computer which aren't really efficient just to get 1 program working. No viruses or anything, the computer is well maintained and everything else seems to work alright.
The unit model is a VAIO VGC-V2M.
Hopefully I can sort this out and everything will be working well. Thanks in advance.
