Question on Battery Life on a VAIO

Question on Battery Life on a VAIO.
Bought a FE41S last week.
Charged the battery and started using it for about an hour and it needed recharging again.
Just installed a game (Armed Assault, runs brilliantly by the way), so the dvd drive was used but surely it couldnt have used all this energy.
Could it be I need to flatten the battery first and then fully charge it?
The manuals for the VAIO are useless. Nice laptop though.

The stats for your vaio state a battery life of Up to 02:50 / VAIO Optimized (Brightness Level 5, Sony arrive at that figure by under these conditions..

Running the DVD drive would reduce the battery time considerably..
