Hi I'm looking to upgrade my Radeon X600XT to the X1950GT. I think the old PSU won't supply enough power for the new graphics card I am considering. I have attempted to remove the PSU by removing the screws. The little plate was removed, but the panel surrounding the PSU won't budge. Has anyone attempted in replacing one of these PSUs before?
Your current PSU is probably a Delta power supply DPS- 400LB A
47Hz-63Hz
+5V & +3.3V MAX Output 150W
+12-1V, +12V-2, +12V-SP MAX Output 291.6W
which will just about power the X800XT but nothing more.
You could try Delta but Sony PSUs are a non standard size and I don't think you will find an uprated replacement.
You could try adding another supplimentary 400W PSU like this one, but it will take up one or your CD-ROM slots: -

Upgrades are all well and good but do not always represent good value. When you start to add up the costs of this PSU and the X1950GT, you may be better building from scratch in a new case that will take a standard PSU. The additional cooling required would also be easier to arrange.
