Hi,
I recently bought my first VAIO laptop (fe41s) and am really impressed with the build quality and overall design. One problem though. The performance is kind of bad because of all the pre-installed software.
Now I am about to do a system recovery without installing the apps by following the instructions stated in a few of the threads.

Prior to doing this i have few questions i really need answered:
1) Are the instructions for system recovery stated in the sticky threads valid for vista?
2) After doing a clean install just by using disc 1 of the recovery discs will the laptop have vista with ALL drivers installed that are needed for normal operation?
3) In the second disc there are mostly *.pac files that need to be extracted with kcap tool right? But there are also a few *.sny files (quite large too). Can someone tell me what these files are for?
4) After the clean install are there specific programs that need to be installed that the laptop needs? Im thinking of the sony apps (viao update, camera utility etc).
Basically i want to know if i can just follow the instructions of these threads for a flawless recovery of my laptop!
Thank u for reading...
Hi sgrenfurm,
welcome to Club Vaio.
Those posts were based on recovering XP, the only post I remember seeing regarding Vista is this one from Akash84 , you could try searching the forum to see if there are others..?
Thanks Thalamus
I'll check this thread out later! If all ends well ill reply!
Good luck..
