PPU (Physics Processing Unit) on vaio

Hello!

I have a Vaio FE28H. I would like to know if anybody knows something about the new PPU that we have in shops. It's a card that enables your computer to process real physics calculation to improve games quality and reality. But I have seen they only built them for desktop PCs. So the question is if somebody knows if they will build them for laptops.

Thanks a lot!

PS: This has been my first post in Club Vaio!

Hi pmelero welcome to Club Vaio,

Having a quick read up I can give you a short summary.

The first PPU was designed by Ageia, and was called the PhysX. As the name suggests it helps with the physical aspects (real-world) of a game while not putting pressure on the computers processor itself, I believe this is it's strong point.

People would argue that the PPU has come too late, the emergence of dual processors suggest that it's need has greatly been reduced. Whether or not you will see them in laptops is doubtful. Maybe a dedicated laptop such as Alienware or a Dell but a Vaio I doubt it very much. I mean laptops aren't really designed for gaming, especially your thin FE28H

Anyway I hope this helps you a little bit at leats
