no xp cd with viao

My girfriend recently bought a viao, but it didnt come with an xp cd. do you usually get one with new sony's? i cant find any contact detail on the sony site.
also do you know how to find what series it is? it says pcg 7m1m on the back

Hi jtk600, no Vaio comes with Windows XP CD. Everything is in the partition. You have to create your own recovery disc for OS (XP) and other programes using 2 DVD's.
You can find out your which Vaio series you have on the instruction book, the box and on your Vaio (right click on MY COMPUTER and choose properties). It should also have it on the Vaio screen.

You will need two DVD+R (or DVD-R).

Start -> All Programs -> Vaio Recovery Tool -> Vaio Recovery Utility

Choose to make a Media Recovery Kit.

As Vas said, the model type will usually be on the screen surround - VGN-FS????
