No analogue ports on Click To DVD

Hi,

I am trying to capture analogue video using the Click To DVD program supplied with my VGX-XL301 (Vista). The first couple of times I tried it, it seemed to work OK but now the program is not giving any analogue source selection options (only i.LINK). I know that the tuner cards are working as I can see the analogue video when viewing live TV in Media Centre. My current version of Click To DVD is 2.6.00.11281. Anyone have any ideas, please?

Thanks for that JRB

Just as a point of interest I see there is a more up-to-date version of Click to DVD Version : 2.5.35.09140 available on the Vaio-Link Download Page for the XL-201 - this is a small 2.1MB update that neither of us seems to have installed.

I doubt if it will make any difference but you may like to update it.

Hi Blencogo,

Sorry, I was away, hence the delay in replying. Here are the screenshots from my system that you requested. As mentioned in my original post, I have version 2.6. I downloaded this from the Vaio site (can't remember where!). It was an attempt to rectify the original problem but it made no difference.

Also, I recently tried to capture for the first time using iLink. I was using my relatively old Sony DCR-TRV20E camcorder. Click to DVD did not see this either even though both Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premier Elements could see and capture it OK. I don't know if this is related to the original problem or if it is a separate compatibility problem with older iLink devices.

Thanks for your help,
FergusB

Thanks - I've forwarded them on to Sony Support.

Hopefully they can suggest something.

I imagine they will ask you to uninstall Click to DVD and reinstall it from your Recovery Discs and then re-apply any updates.

Let's hope the next suggestion isn't to carry out a Recovery back to factory settings but unfortunately this is often the only way to eliminate other software causing the problem.

Hi - another newbie! I may be an idiot, but I can't seem to record any analogue video input! I have a Xl-100 [which i accept is old now!]But following the threads below, when connected to the front video input, i launch Click to DVD, but it's looking for an iLink input only.

Have I got the correct tuner card or what ever? I have never connected my XL-100 to a TV aerial [have no need] Do I need to set this up first??

Please help!

Thanks, Tim

In case Sony Support do come back with your expected response:

1. I have tried the update, it made no difference.

2. I have recovered by system back to factory settings: it didn't help because Click to DVD didn't work in the first place!

In another thread you wrote about having Vaio Media Servers running - can you expand on this? I have tried starting Vaio Media before launching Click to DVD, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks

Let's wait and see what Sony come back with.

I don't really know where I got it from but I did think that the Vaio Media Servers must be started in Start -> All Programs -> Vaio Media -> Vaio Media Setup if you are running Windows MCE and not Vaio Zone. I'm not sure if this really helps so I would wait.

Hi Folks - this sounds very familiar - you did try to help me with this problem on my RC202 and we came to the point where the computer went to sony service. Well it has now returned with a new tuner card and odo?, but the original problem remains - click2dvd still does not recognise an analogue input (and now the rear inputs do not recognise analogue even when windows movie maker is running - they used to - only the front inputs do - and such poor quality). Probably the way the DHL treated the box, bouncing it into reception instead of carrying it when I went to collect it, might not have helped - I had to put the side panel on the computer where it had fallen off in transit! Sony support are asking for the service guys in Brussells to come up with an answer to the click2 dvd problem - I informed the support expert that this seemed to be a growing problem according to this forum.

Hi Blencogo

Did you ever hear back from Sony on this?

I have tried all the suggestions/ideas on this and other threads, and nothing makes any difference.

Thanks

Hi JRB - it sounds like they are struggling with this one.

I will send a little reminder!!

I came across this Sony USA Internal KB article.

The option to capture video from an analog source does not appear in the Click To DVD ™ 2.x software

It appears to say that the Vaio Media Servers must be running for the analogue inputs to show up. But I would take this with a pinch of salt as on BOTH my Vista and my XP Vaios, the Integrated Vaio Media Server is Stopped and the Analogue inputs still show up.

It also advises reinstallation of: -

Sony Shared Library
Shared Video Library
MPEG Decoder
