My VAIO VGN-FS295VP will not turn on

Can anyone help me,
I have a Vaio VGN-FS295VP, its worked well over the past couple of years and about a month ago I completely reformatted it and returned it to factory setting as it had become quite jumbled and I thought it needed the final solution. Its worked well since then, but all of a sudden yesterday it would just not turn on. No lights, no sounds, nothing. I've checked the power supply, used another power supply, tried without the battery, tried taking the battery out for a while and then back in, in fact all the obvious stuff and nothing has worked at all.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause may be? and is it easy/affordable to repair? it seems like sony will charge an arm and a leg for me to send it into the repair centre when it prob would be worth just buying a new computer at that cost!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to Club Vaio,

Try, if you've not done so already, disconnecting the ac-power, remove the battery and press and hold the power button for a minute to discharge any remaining electric charge, then reconnect the power supply and try to start your vaio..

Hi, Thanks. I've tried that but unfortunately nothing again!
Any other suggestions? Do you have an idea what the prob might be? I've heard that Vaio's have an inherent problem that the power unit is part of the motherboard, so if it goes then you have to replace the whole thing - does this sound like what I'll have to do?
