MY SCREEN IS SPLIT INTO 4, EVEN BIOS, PICS INSIDE

Hi

i have a sony vaio PCG - K415B

when i turn it on the screen is split into 4, ive tried:

reset bios
update bios to version 108 from 107
changing resolution in windows
LCD screen expansion in bios, yes and no both dont work

note: the 2 splits of the screen on the right side are a little fuzzy

I would wait and see what Sony say as Thalamus has kindly asked them to contact you. They may even do it for free, you never know.

If not then your VAIO is yours and you can do what you like with it.

(If you don't have the hardware diagnostic then you haven't got it because as far as i am aware you can't download it)

Do a complete reformat back to factory settings...after backing up of course

This is a almost certainly a hardware problem..

If it's a Graphics chip problem then the repair is likely to cost in the region of 500 - 800 GBP as you will require a motherboard replacement, unless your lucky enough to have a daughter board installed in your Vaio then it would be somewhat cheaper..

I wouldn't have thought a PCG-K415B was still covered by warranty..

wish I would concentrate on aspects like this.

Maybe it would be cheaper to get a new laptop.

im not sure if it is still under waranty, does anyone know for sure if its intergrated or not, is it a dauther chip like Thalamus said so then i can open it up and have a look at least

It's definately integrated, they didn't make the daughterboard back then.

I'm almost certain that your graphics chip is integrated into the motherboard..

Hi, i received a fone call today from sony and he siad does it work with external, i said yes it did on my 19" and fit whole screen on any resolution but on the native resolution the text is a little blurry not sharp like normal and auto audjust did clean it.

He siad some one can pick it up with in 2 hours, and will cost between £250 and £500 and something, im gusing im got to pay tax too, i said if u can phone me tomorow i will let you know for sure. most likely i wont do it as u can buy for like £350 a core 2 duo laptop now.

Hopefully we can find a way if fixing it 😉
