How to reduce monitor backlight. I am really becoming blind to look at its brightness.

Welcome to Club vaio..

Open the power options Properties (Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > power options) in the VAIO Power Management tab, then depending on whether you want to set Battery or AC power, select the required brightness level in either the the Running on Batteries column or in Plugged In, then click apply and OK..
