I should say HELLO

Hi all, I have been lurking a bit since yesterday.

Just bought a new Vaio VGN-N31S (the cheap Vaio in PC World) yesterday. So I just thought I would pop in and say Hi, and also ask if there are any issues with this model that I should be aware of please?

So far I am really happy with it, I love the clean look and the spongy keyboard and it is running Vista very smoothly with aero. Its just that, well you know, Sony Vaios have a mixed reaction from people, some saying they are good, others saying they have poor reliability and what not.

I guess I am just looking for reassurance really and a justification of my purchase.

Thanks for reading

Hi beckh and welcome to the forum

Your machine seems like a heck of a good deal, if it does it's job and you're happy with it, then you don't need anyone else to tell you how good (or bad) it is.

If something does go wrong, seek advice here or use the guarantee!

Thanks for the welcome.

I know I should not take any notice of other people, but they make me feel itchy as my purchase trashed my credit card lol 😞

One thing I have noticed, I mean I did read about that class action suit, but most problems I am seeing are early problems going back to maybe between year 2000-2005. There is not alot of recent stuff, apart from customer service woes. Then really if I have no problems I won't need to call the customer service anyway.

I suppose I shoudl be thankful I have the privelege of living in the Uk with the minimum 1 yr warranty

Hello and thanks for the welcome.

I have just one other question. I have read on a couple of forums that Sony say if you do not use the restore disc set and you use your own windows version that it invalidates your warranty.

I am 99% certain this is total rubbish but just wanted to double check here
