Turn your Vaio on and at the first Vaio Screen tap F8 repeatedly. This should open the Startup Options Screen. Use the arrow keys to select 'Last Known Good Configuration' and press Enter.

If this does not work try booting into Safe Mode from the same Startup Options Screen. Can you get into Windows? The screen will look odd in 640X480 VGA.

Have you installed any new software recently? If so, try booting into Safe Mode and uninstall it.

Are you using XP?
