Heat and sound probs

Ive had my Vaio VGN-FJ3M for over a year now and for the first year Ive been very happy with it. Ive been using it an awful lot. However for over a month now Ive noticed it getting very hot underneath on the left hand side near the fan. The fan doesnt spin round all the time (maybe it should?) and the temp reading for the cpu is only around 50'C. What is worrying me most is that it now seems very slow and jerky to do anything and playing sound is nearly impossible, it sounds like the sound is buffering very badly. This isnt a software problem I keep my OS clean. Ive also been inside to see if vents are blocked, they are not. Any other suggestions please before I take it to a repair shop?

Hi pinhead1337,

welcome to Club Vaio..

what is the normal running temperature of your vaio..?

If your unsure, mobilemeter is a handy application to use..

If your vaio is getting hot you may need to first try clearing the cooling vents of dust with compressed air (you should be able to get this from your local PC shop), holding the can upright give the vents a short blast from a distance of approx. 10cm if you hold the can to close you could damage the fan..

Hey. Thanks for the quick reply. I will take your advice and get some compressed air, the normal running temp is about 50'C. I have that mobmeter program.
