Hello,
I was video chatting with my family, and suddenly, there is a blue screen with the following warning: -
*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: parity check / memory parity error
*** The system has halted ***
I have to hold on the 'switch on' button on my FS315E to switch my laptop off and turn it on again.
I wonder what just happened to my laptop? ....... Can anybody help me?
Ahh glad Microsoft and I agree on something
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315223
I'd check the memory with something like Memtest86
Thank you ..
But I haven't add on any memory to my laptop. .....
What is Memtest86? Do I have to do the test on my laptop?
lylv
Memtest86
This is not necessarily a hardware problem and could very well be a glitch in your VOIP application or a driver conflict. Was this a one off occurance?
This can happen to old RAM, doesn't mean you must have new RAM for the problem to occur.
But Rich does have a point, a glitch in programs or bad DLLs can cause it too.
That's why we want to put the memory as being the problem behind us
It happened twice while I was chatting ..... doesn't happen everyday though .....
So, a glitch it is ... ... ???
Hello thanks for the site!
Hi lylv
Here is a link to Memtest 86 and here a further instructions on how to install
Does it mean I don't have to run the memtest ?
What should I do next?

So it only happens during chat sessions?
