DVD RW not reading properly

Hi guys,
I got my Sony Vaio VGN-FE31H 2 days ago. I am facing some problems with my DVD RW. I t was working well for the last 2 days bu from today it has ceased reading those cds that it read 2 days ago.
They were video CDs and automatically opened by Roxio but before it reads the movie,the application hangs.Same with Media player and media center.
Can someone help me whether this is a known issue with the Matshita DVD RAM Drive or something to do with hardware configurations.

Welcome to Club Vaio,

Try using system restore (start > All Programs > Accessories > System tool) to restore to a point before you had problems, if that does not help have a look at Blencogo's solutions here

Hi Thalamus,
I tried the system restore but it didnt work. I get the restore incomplete screen and it doesn't run for any of the days in BOLD on the selection area.. 😞
And my DVD Rw is in the same state.
Is it because the error-correction is very less..
Please suggest me some other option.
