Connecting the laptop with a projector

I have a notebook VGN-A397XP computer, and i'll give a lecture using presentations with power point.
What kind of adjustments have to make (screen etc.), in order to connect my laptop with the projector?
Does the model of the projector (which i don't know yet what will be) affects the presentation? A friend of mine told me that, perhaps, i'll have problem, because of my screen (which is 17 inches). Is this true?

Thanks in advance

Hi Lampros.

It depends on the projector but most connect with a VGA 15-pin monitor cable. If you are using sound and the projector has a sound system, you may need to connect your headphone socket to the projector with a 3.5mm stereo jack plug.

Your Vaio should automatically sense the projector's resolution - all you normally need to do is to press Fn+F7 to toggle between the screen and the external projector.

Have a look at Page 113 of your User Guide - downloadable from here: -
