Cannot boot from DVD

Can anyone help? I can use my DVD once XP starts however my XP has experienced issues and I was intending on reinstalling XP. I have amended the BIOS settings to include and there is no option for CDROM. However the DVD just check for the disk and just struggles to start the installation.

The other question is I XP won't start, and I have installed Kubuntu which is dual booting and worked for a year now. I have divided the partition up and removed the extra part of HD used for the restore, will sony supply me with the relevant copy of XP.?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi nzqv1r and welcome to Club Vaio.

Try resetting the BIOS default settings - Save and Exit. It should automatically boot from the CD-ROM first if a bootable disc is in the drive.

Are you using the 'System Disc' DVD? the 'Applications Disc' is not a bootable disc.

If you have deleted the Recovery Partition and your Recovery Discs are corrupt, you will have to purchase a replacement set of discs from Sony Support.
