Booting from an external device

I have VPCL11M1E and I've enabled the the Boot from External Devive.

How do I get this to work, on other computer I've you press either the F8 or F12 keys

and it give you a chiose of Booting from DVD, Internal Harddrive or Extenal devices.

I've look at all the mauals and othe help page at sony and can find no answer.

Can anyone help please.

Maybe this can help.

Attach the external device, start the computer, enter the BIOS. (F1 or F2, dont remember.) Under the Boot menu you enable boot from external device, then under Hard drives, if a USB-HDD, find your device and put it on top of the list in that category. Then make sure that the category with your device is on top of the category list.

Am I making any sense? Sometimes a USB-stick acts like a HDD and sometimes as a external device so check both categories...

I am not english speaking so have patience with the way I use the english language 😃

Thank you for answering my question about booting from external device.

I did find the answer just before I got your reply.

I just have to press F11 after seeing the VAIO screen when I switch my computer on.
