Hi Guys,
I have had an AR41M for almost two weeks now and tried to use the remote control for only the second time today only to find no response at all from it.
The first time I used it (while seting up Media Centre the first day I had the laptop) it work fine. Also I notice that the receiver blinks every time I press a button on the control, but nothing happens at all!
In light of the above, I'm guessing there is some sort of software / driver problem. Can anyone suggest a way of solving this problem? How can I reinstall these drivers?
Bump for reply please!
If no one knows the answer, can someone tell me the best way to go about reporting the problem to Sony please?
Hi Martin,
I get the same problem on my AR31S, and after a convoluted set of suggestions to reinstall, got a reasonable explanation from Sony.
I noticed that after resuming from hibernation or sleep, a window would appear notifying me that a USB device was not recognised. This device is your IR reciever, which is hooked up by an internal USB or derivative.
Sony say this is a known issue with Vista, and should be addressed in SP1. (Like dead wifi connections after resuming). There's an available hotfix from the sony/microsoft site, but it's beta, and involves a fair amount of hacking around (I decided the occassional restart was a smaller price to pay). I'm sure they'll give it you if you ask vaio link.
HTH! Wish I'd have known about the 41 when I got my 31, the spec increase looks well worth waiting for...
