KDL40Z5800 Cannot tune Freeview to receive High Definition

I am unable to tune my recently purchased KDL40Z5800 television to receive High Definition on Freeview.

I have tried both manual tunning and auto tunning.

This model does not havd a Freeview HD tuner I'm afraid, so the only way you could do this would be to use a set top box.

Thanks

Thanks very much for your response.

I feared that was the answer. It is very disappointing that when you  buy what is promoted as Sony's top of the range television that within only a few months it is out of date.

Sony would no doubt have been aware a couple of years ago of plans to transmit Freeview HD so it begs the question why didn't they ensure that their latest models could receive it?

It very much undermines confidence in buying Sony!

The DVB-T2 silcon needed for Freeview HD was only available in early 2010 and Sony were the first manufacturer to bring it to market in March 2010. As the Z4500 was a 2009 model first released around April 2009 I think, the correct chipset simply wasn't available.

Thanks
