Hi @wardster22
It looks like you are suffering from the infamous Info Banner fault that Sony don’t appear to be able to correct since 2016. The Info Banner appears every time the audio format changes. Whereas you can turn the Info Banner off on Android TVs, unless it has changed, you cannot turn it off on a Linux TV. Search Info Banner in the forum.
The only “work-a-round” that I am aware of, which will degrade your audio experience, is to change your Sky Q box so the audio format is fixed to PCM. On the Sky Q box Home -> Settings -> Setup -> Audio visual -> Digital audio output HDMI -> Normal.
Hi
Thank you for your response. I also bought the Sony sound bar ( mt300 series ) at the same time and would
certainly not wish to compromise the sound which is excellent. Should the dealer ( John Lewis in this case ) have
mentioned this issue if it goes back as far as 2016 - or is it a matter for Sky themselves ?
Thanks again for your help
Further to previous postings and replies thes problem with "banner interruptions" on my new Sony KD43 TV the problem is still with me - the interruption occurs immediately on starting up ( always using Sky Q box remote). I am now also getting a screen freeze where the screen goes green and states the screen is not available. I am to sometimes having to disconnect the HDMI connection to reboot the screen. I am now seriously considering returning the TV to John Lewis as it is less than 3 weeks old the only saving grace is that once the hassle of rebooting is that it does not usually re occur for the remaining few hours. Has anyone discovered whether Sky have been approached re this issue (my son has the same setup re Sony TV with same woofer system although a bigger 50" screen and Sky Q boxes without any issues at all)
At Last !! I have finally nailed down the "Banner " issue . I saw somewhere on the forum an issue concerning
use of Sky boxes where older HDMI cables may give problems when using 4k sets - my Sky Q box is one of the original ones and my suspicions were aroused so I invested in a new high speed HDMI cable from Amazon and " JOB DONE ". I admit I am a little galled having paid a local installer to set up the TV originally. This result is particularly pleasing as I was also getting screen freezes with the old cable. £10 well spent !
