Hi
I see a number of WiFi / Internet threads but nothing quite matches my symptoms.
My KDL-40EX403 (software version: PKG4.089EUL-0108) and WiFi dongle connect to the router and the internet and I can use online services for a little while but eventually, internet connection is lost.
There is still connection to the router; the TV still has an IP address, but on the network check screen the the internet access check shows "failed".
Other devices (PS3, laptop) in the same vicinity work flawlessly.
To reconnect to the internet, I have to unplug the USB dongle and reinsert it.
Is my dongle faulty?
thanks
Hi
Very hard to say. Seems like you are using the latest firmware I think? So that isn't likely an issue. I assume the PS3 is under the TV so its not likely to be some kind of black-spot in your lounge.
Maybe get it replaced or use a set of homeplugs instead as they do a great job which much greater bandwidth. You could alos then hardwire your PS3 to the homeplug also if you got a small network switch to increase the number of network sockets available.
Thanks
If You use UWA-BR100 it is good. Reset router and turn off security.
My TV dongle connection to my router have developed exactly the same problem, I am not too sure what to do?
I have reset my router, updated the firmware, tried everything possible to try and fix the problem, but it remains. when the internet connection is lost, if I try and scan for a routers signal the tv restarts, do you have any idea how I can fix my tv. It used to work fine and suddenly this happend!
Same problem here, except I'm using Bravia KDL46HX75GBN which has built-in wifi. Here's what I discovered: it's related to WPA2 security. When I switched it off in my router (open wifi) the problem was gone.
All other wifi devices (android phone, iPad, PS3) have no problem using wifi with WPA2 security, so it clearly is a problem with the Bravia. Sony should investigate this and fix it with new firmware.
For your information, my router is the ASUS RT-N56U and it has the latest firmware installed.
Here too.
Sony Bravia KDL-32EX40B
We have WPA2 security.
Software version: PKG4.114EUB-0108
Router: Netgear WGR64 v7
USB Wireless LAN adapter UWA-BR100
WiFi connection worked properly untill some months ago a new - maybe latest update was installed (via net). Or TV operator´s update, ´cause they came at same time nearly.
After those updates no wifi connection noticed 😞
If anyone finds som helpful tips, please tell it!
I have exactly the same problem. Phoned Sony...reset tv to factory settings and started again. They said ip fault. Went to ip, they did loads of checks and changed a few things. They found no fault. Back to Sony. Still 3 years left on warranty. Problem resolved itself for some reason, and then restarted after I had cancelled engineer. Typical!!! Is there no Sony moderator on this platform that can help!!!
