I purchased a KDL-26EX553 TV a couple of months ago and generally have been very pleased with it. In particular, the ability to record directly to a portable HDD and to set up single and series record events via the electronic program guide (EPG) was really easy...
... until the New Year, when the EPG changed dramatically:
- It now loads up via the Internet connection and does so very slowly.
- I rarely see all columns and rows of the grid filled in, though scrolling the grid does seem to help it update.
- Most of the programs I select from the grid yield the message "This TV event is no longer aired and cannot be accessed."
- Those programs that do provide more information can only be set to record as a single event - there appears to be no series record option.
- If my Internet connection is not available, there is no EPG.
In short, this new format EPG is pretty much useless compared to the older one.
- Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
- Does anyone know if Sony are working on improving this?
- Does anyone know if it's possible to make the TV revert to the old format EPG, which I guess worked off-air rather than via the Internet?
Any help or information on this would be much appreciated.
