Hello,
I'm wondering what is the difference between these two TVs: KDL-55W809A and KDL-55W805A.
There is around 400 € difference in price (KDL-55W809A is cheaper) and I'm wondering why and if it's worth to buy the expensive one.
Thank you for your help.
M
Hi there
From my understanding on the model numbers - That last number digit, indicates the country or region. The 805A is UK/EU. Doing a quick google search on the W809A model, seems to bring up many Russian (?) websites.
What site are you going to, to get the W809A?
Cheers.
There are some Slovenian sites (internet shops) that offer 809A:

Is there maybe difference, that these are made in China or similar countries, and the expensive ones are made in Europe and maybe the quality is better?? I don't know where Sony has factories...
Thank you,
M
Quite often there is a reason why a different model is for a different region/country. Without doing full research, I cannot tell you that reason other than guess (ie, different power voltages / different terrestrial frequencies etc).
To cut it short. If you are in the UK, you would purchase the W805A.
According to Wikipedia :
"Bravia televisions and their components are manufactured in Sony's plants in Japan, Mexico, and Slovakia for their respective regions and are also assembled from imported parts in Brazil, Spain, China, Malaysia and Ecuador. Principal design work for BRAVIA products is performed at Sony's research facilities in Japan, at the research and development department at the Sony de Mexico facility in Baja California, Mexico and at the Sony Europe facility in Nitra, Slovakia."
