Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

ah, at last, 1 user with 12w14 reported a good news...so I guess we can get it fixed soon...

I'm afraid what the service center here is going to offer a screen replacement, not swapping with the new batch....

anyway, good news at last!

you may want to download a third party application to check the battery temperature. There are many of them out there, get the simple one like battery widget.

getting it to 40 degree would depend on your room temperature. I tried in an air conditioned room and it took a while to get to 40 degree and my other attempts got it to 40 degree easily outside the air conditioned room.

It took some 30-40 min playing an HD game, all connections and usb on, to bring temp to 40 and stayed there for 1min. In a non-heated room. So far no spots. Do you think I should've stayed at 40 longer?

Are you trying to test to see if you have the tint?

I create a plain Blue image on my phone.

Then play GrandTheftAuto3 for about 15-20 min.

Exit the game, open up the blue image and clearly see the tint on the top right corner, bottom center screen, and also the fullt right side from top to bottom.

I use the temp. sensor from market, and it shown around 43c.

For me, the yellow tint isn't as bad, and gone when cooldown, Only fear over, the tint get worst, spread, and like some people turn black...

Sorry 4 the late reply, lately I'm really busy with work.

Any way I pushed up to 44C, and at some point I hit 45C  for less than a minute, still no issues, but I want to repeat testing again but no time lately.

Do any body have a way to hit 45C  quickly? maybe some specific game?

This game is badass hot. Its like burning the phone in a couple of mins.

Wow, I couldn't believe this is getting out of control now. So many people are suffering this issue, and all we can do is wait for SONY to fix our phone. Well at least NOW they have accept the fact that its a mistake that their manufacture made. For those of you who didn't know, Before the official annoucement, they actually claim to me its a NORMAL and Deemed acceptable on this issue. You just know how Pissed off I am at that point, because obviously even a 6yrs Old could notice there is something wrong on the Screen. SO I guess right now its already a step forward to getting Our Goal,and that is getting Our Phone fix and back to where we expect the phone to be. BTW, I am still waiting for the SONY HONG KONG SERVICE CENTER to Reply me when I can get my Screen fix. They said they recorded my email, and will notify me as soon as the Parts arrive to the Service Center. Really? I hope they won't dissapoint me once more, because I already lost faith on SONY.

Hello Sony user, I would say what is my issue in France. Don't take care of my poor english, thanks.

I love this phone, I bought one 12W08 last mounth : yellow spot, a big yellow spot when phone burst. In France when you buy a good on internet, you have one week to retract. I contact Sony phone number, They don't know the probleme "Resend us...."

I take my retract right I go phone back to seller.

Seller refunds me....

Buy another one, one week later in other internet site : 12W08, not a big spot but the screen is partially yellow, at the bottom, always... I love photography and i know what is a white balance, a white can be cold or warm, but must be the same on all the screen. I look over forum and see Sony recognize the problem, I phone Sony number and they said to send phone at a near phone center. I call phone center, they said they don't know Xperia S and further, don't know the issue.....One month for the best time to have another screen. .....

I take my retract right I go phone back to seller.

Seller refunds me....

hum hum, One week after I buy a third Xperia S (after a short stock on the internet site, I was thinking Sony stop manufacturing and have send another handset free of faults), receive it on friday, open the box see 12W13!!! Yes !!! I put my sim, and .... the screen is partially yellow too, like my second handset, but I have a bonus, 4 ou 5 deads pixels, wahhhooooo. I take chat with Sony assistance on the internet. I past a traduction for your pleasure.!!!!....

They said you can send your phone but they don't have screen to replace, they know the problem, but the continue to sell the handset.

I have read a lot of your post to know what I will do, and I hope your problem will be resolved

Just discovered something on a different forum that will give some insight on the problem and the affected phones:

Just read from a chinese forum, someone working in sony reveal some documents (don't know if these are real or not).

Basically, if the touch firmware is 6 (dial *#*#7378423#*#* -> service info -> software info), the screen should be fine, they won't accept repairing (in China); if it's 7, then there might be yellow tints on screen.

Also, it is not about the week number, it's about the 4 letters code printed on the battery sticker, the one just above the week number, something like "AAAB".

If the first 2 letters is "AA" (hardware version 1), then it might be a problem screen; if it's "AB" (hardware version 2) or "AC" (hardware version 3), then there is no problem, i.e. no yellow tints / spots.

The tones in the documents are quite absolutely sure, i.e. NOT "it should be no problem with the screen", but rather "there IS no problem". And they won't accept repair for any phone that doesn't pass their "check" (mentioned above).
